As part of Lávdan Sámi Arena and a continuation of Kultur Sápmi, we invite you to SÁMI FILMMAT BOAĐI BOAĐI / SÁMI FILMS RISING — an event dedicated to what’s next in Sámi film. The evening continues with a screening of the latest Sámi documentaries: In My Hand, For Our Rights, and Áhkuin.

18:00–19:00 — SÁMI FILMMAT BOAĐI BOAĐI
Meet Elle Sofe Sara, director, choreographer, and screenwriter, in conversation with ISFI’s Siljá Somby about her upcoming feature Árru — the first-ever Yoik musical. Currently in post-production, the session will offer a unique insight into Elle Sofe’s artistic process and present visual material from the film.
You’ll also get a preview of other ISFI-supported Sámi films currently in development, including A Sámi Wedding by Åse Kathrin Vuolab, Saajven jïh elmien gaske by Oskar Östergren Njaita, and Porslin by Ann Aurebekk, among others.
Note: The talk will be in Northern Sámi only (no translation).

What is Lávdan Sámi Arena
Lávdan Sámi Arena is an arena for Sámi civil society to meet across sectors and state borders, to discuss issues that are relevant for Sápmi, and work towards developing a better Sámi future. Lávdan Sámi Arena is being arranged as a part of the Interreg Aurora funded project ReCap ASáp: Regaining capacity in a changing Sápmi, which is led by the Saami Council and Suoma Sámiid Guovddášsearvi. The project aims to strengthen the Sámi civil society and build capacity to actively participate in decision-making processes that affect Sápmi. Read more here.
