Script grants

International Sámi Film Institute can give grants for Sámi synopsis, treatment, and manuscript writing. In addition, ISFI can support dramaturgical assistance.

  • ISFI awards grants for manuscript development in all genres. The objective of the grant scheme is to ensure the production of Sámi manuscripts that maintain the highest possible level of artistic quality. We are looking for manuscripts that are authentic, that have strong Sámi cultural roots, and in which the majority of the film’s dialogue is in Sámi. Manuscripts that have children and young people as the target group are given particular priority.

ISFI’s intention with this grant is to give screenwriters who define themselves as Sámi or are Sámi-speakers the opportunity to create a script that can stand out at a national and international level.

    • Sámi production company, either as executive or co-producer, whose primary objective is to engage in audiovisual production and is registered in the Sápmi, Norway or an EEA country.

    • If the grant recipient is a producer, they must attach an agreement with the screenwriter(s).
  • In order to receive a grant from ISFI, the applicant and project must meet ISFI’s general conditions.

  • The awarding of a script grant does not guarantee further support; however, it is entirely possible to apply for a grant for the same project at a future date.

ISFI’s approval of a manuscript in connection with awarded support should not be understood as prior approval or granting of any subsequent production application.

If ISFI provides further support for the project, the script grant awarded is considered to be part of the overall grant from ISFI.

The amounts of the grants that can be applied for:
