Congratulations! Two nominations to A Sámi Wedding at Gullruten!
The TV-series is nominated for:
• Best Leading Role by Sara Margrethe Oskal
• Best Supporting Role by Ivan Aleksander Sara Buljo

The award ceremony takes place on Friday, May 8.

In addition, the TV series is also nominated for seven Gullruten Fagpriser 2026 (Craft Awards):
• Green Production of the Year
• Best Casting – Fiction
• Best Cinematography – Drama
• Best Script – Drama
• Best Directing – Drama
• Best Props
• Best Production Design

The series is created by Åse Kathrin Vuolab and directed by Åse Kathrin Vuolab and Pål Jackman. It is produced by Mer Film, Tordenfilm and Forest People for NRK, and had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2025. The Tv-series is available now on NRK, SVT and YLE, in addition to CBC in Canada.

Gullruten is Norway’s biggest TV awards.

Our trainees at the Film Exčelerator Sápmi program attended the seminar in Guovdageaidnu – Birgejupmi through Art & Duodji, organized by Dáiddadállu and partners. ISFI also presented the development of the Sámi film sector and how the institute has grown since its establishment in 2009 until today.

The documentary Let Our Mountains Live, will have its North-American premiere at @hotdocs_ in Canada, April 24. The documentary is directed by Håvard Bustnes @upnorthfilm , co-written and co-produced with Johannes Vang @aurinkofilm and Kati Eriksen @homerivermedia.

The documentary has also showings at @moviesthatmatterfestival in Netherlands recently.

For twenty years, Sissel Stormo Holtan and Terje Haugen have fought to protect their ancestral grazing lands from Europe’s largest wind power project. Despite their protests, the Norwegian state allowed 151 massive turbines to be built on the Fosen mountains before the legal battle was even over.

The short film The Sámi Have Rights (2019), by Elle Márjá Eira and Mai-Lis Eira Buljo, comes to @tate Modern Lates this Friday 27 March, as part of the closing celebration weeks of Máret Ánne Sara’s major exhibition Goavve-Geabbil in London.

International Sámi Film Institute presents the film programme Arctic Futures: Sámi Voices of Resistance at Tate Modern Lates.

The film programme includes In My Hand (2025) by Liselotte Wajstedt and Márjá Helander, alongside The Past and the Future of the Arctic (2023) by Hans Pieski, and The Sámi Have Rights (2019, first picture) by Elle Márjá Eira and Mai-Lis Eira Buljo. After the screenings, there will be a Q&A with the filmmakers hosted by Helene O'Malley, Curator of International Art at Tate Modern.

Alongside the film programme, the evening features a performance by Katarina Barruk, DJ Radio-JusSunná and Friends (programmed by NANU – Sámi Arts International), a duodji workshop with Elle Márjá Eira, and much more.
