Two short films, one documentary and one series received production grants totaling 1.35 MNOK in the first application round of this year.

Árbi is a relational drama about two siblings settling an inheritance dispute after their father’s death. Mikkel, who has idolized their father and suppressed past traumas, reacts aggressively when Sanna brings up the past. The confrontation reopens deep wounds but becomes the path to reconciliation.

In Tromsø, the Sámi and Norwegians seem to coexist peacefully. However, when two young Sámi girls face racism from drunk Norwegians waiting for a taxi, their fates get intertwined with older Sámi individuals. The incident draws them into a twisted and dark night.

The production grant aims to secure the best possible quality of the film project. The grant is given to stimulate films in the Sami language and strengthen Sami filmmakers and producers.
Application deadlines for production grants are February 1st, May 1st, September 1st and December 1st.
