ANNA SUNNA SELECTED AS ISFI’S ICA FELLOW AT TIFF: THE MARKET 2026

Producer Anna Sunna has been selected as the International Sámi Film Institute’s Indigenous Cinema Alliance (ICA) Fellow for 2026, and takes part in the Fellowship program at TIFF: The Market in Toronto, 10–16 September.
ISFI selects one Fellow each year in collaboration with the Indigenous Cinema Alliance, as part of our work to strengthen Sámi and Indigenous producers’ access to the international film industry and markets. Previous Fellows include Johannes Vang (EFM 2026), Espen Larsson (2025) and Per Josef Idivuoma (2024), among others.
Anna Sunna is a Sámi producer from the Swedish side of Sápmi, with a background in journalism and public service broadcasting. Since 2021 she has developed and produced documentary and fiction rooted in Indigenous storytelling, working across development, financing and production. Recent titles include Aurora Baby (2026), Ulda (2026), Goavkut – A Door Ajar (2025) and My Neighbour Linnea (2024), and she is currently producing the feature documentary Aron North of Darkness.
To Toronto she brings Stolen Memories (Suoladuvvon muittut / Stulna minnen), directed by John-Erling Utsi and Georg Götmark and produced with Götmark for Jorri Media, Filmfront Media and Sámi Kompania. Haunted by missing childhood memories, John sets out to uncover the truth about his years at a Nomad boarding school, and finds a trauma shared across generations of Sámi families. Anna Sunna comes from a family directly affected by the boarding school system. The film is in production and premieres in 2027.
ABOUT THE ICA FELLOWSHIP
The Fellowship gives Indigenous producers first-hand market experience through training, networking and market programmes matched to the projects they are developing. Fellows join the Indigenous Cinema Alliance at its market activations, and in 2026 the ICA’s main market focus is the inaugural TIFF: The Market in Toronto.
