Sámi Documentary Filmmakers Honoured at imagineNATIVE 2025

Two Sámi film teams have been recognized at the world’s largest Indigenous film festival, imagineNATIVE. Both awards were announced during the 2025 festival at TIFF Lightbox in Toronto, Sunday June 8.


ÁHKUIN

Tuomas Kumpulainen and Sunná Nousuniemi with team, won the New Voices of Storytelling Award, which comes with a $5,000 cash prize.


IN MY HAND

Marja Helander and Liselotte Wajstedt with team, received the Documentary Short Award, along with a $2,500 prize.
