GIELLAVAHKKU 2026: MOLLY OF DENALI ON SÁPMIFILM
The animated children’s film Molly of Denali (Denali Molly), is dubbed into Northern Sámi, and will premiere on sapmifilm.com on October 19, during Giellavahkku / Sámi Language Week 2026. This is the first of two special film versions of the animated series to be released in Northern Sámi on Sapmifilm.com.
An adventure in Alaska
Molly of Denali follows Molly Mabray, a curious and adventurous Alaska Native girl growing up in the fictional village of Qyah, Alaska. Through her adventures with friends and family, the series introduces young audiences to Indigenous cultures, traditions, languages and ways of life.
The film Molly ja Denali
In this first film, Molly ja Denali, Molly learns of her grandfather’s dream to climb Denali in honour of Walter Harper, the first Alaska Native to reach the summit. When she is told she is too young to join the expedition, Molly and her best friend Tooey plan an adventure of their own.
Sámi voices
The Northern Sámi dubbing of Molly ja Denali features Ada Sofie Mienna Halvorsen as Molly, Esaija Valio Länta as Tooey and Ejla Nilsdatter Hætta as Trini, among other voice actors.
The film is translated into Northern Sámi by Berit Margrethe Oskal. The dubbing is directed by Morten Hyld Pettersen and produced by Duottar Studio.
The Molly of Denali universe

Molly of Denali is originally produced as a television series in 2019, and is also part of a broader educational universe centred on Indigenous culture and everyday life, supported by educational apps and learning activities.
The series presents stories from Alaska Native perspectives and was developed in collaboration with Alaska Native cultural advisors, Indigenous writers, actors, artists and producers. This collaboration helps ensure that the stories reflect the cultures and experiences of Alaska Native communities.
