This is a moving portrait of brothers Niillas and Ánde Somby and their formative years within the boarding school system. Cast: Jona Valio Länta, Leon Alseth Valio, and more.

SHE WHO LEADS THE HERD is selected for the Tromsø International Film Festival 2026!

This short documentary is one of the ISFI-supported projects at TIFF 2026, and we are excited to see it on the big TIFF screen in January!

It is a short documentary about a young sámi reindeer herder who is torn between pursuing further education or continuing the traditional lifestyle of her ancestors. In this documentary we follow her journey and explore more aspects of a threatened indigenous cultural heritage in today's day and age.

A Sámi Wedding / Heajastallan is finally premiering in Sápmi and Norway. The TV series, created by Åse Kathrin Vuolab and produced for NRK by Mer Film, Tordenfilm and Forest People, had its world premiere at TIFF in September. Now the series is coming home to Guovdageaidnu where the series is filmed, with a red carpet premiere tomorrow, Thursday December 4th!
After that, the series will screen in Tromsø on December 5th and in Oslo on December 10th.

The TV series will air on NRK on January 1, 2026.

The short film Siõrškuäđam / Hidden Steps, by Laura Feodoroff @laurafeodoroff and Kati Kallio @kalliokati , has premiered at the @amarcort.filmfestival in Italy recently! Now the film is ready to continue its journey to more festivals, we wish the team the very best of luck!

Siõrškuäđam / Hidden Steps is a dance film about Laura, a Skolt Sámi woman who grew up outside the Sámi region. Through quadrille dance, she reaches toward her unknown cultural heritage. The film premiered in the festival’s VOLPINA section, dedicated to dance and movement.

Good to know:

The project must be in the idea/early development phase. The pitch must be delivered in English and must include visual material or moving images. The project must be a fiction short film with a maximum running time of 10 minutes. The jury consists of international producers and festival programmers from A-festivals. Each project will have a total of 10 minutes during the pitch session (7 minutes for the pitch + 3 minutes for questions from the jury). The jury may take the filmmaker’s previous work into consideration.
