ÁRRAN 360° – OPEN CALL FOR BODØ 2024

ÁRRAN 360°
OPEN CALL FOR BODØ 2024

In August 2022, ÁRRAN 360° premiered in Venice, as part of the extended program of The Sámi Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. The project highlighted the creative and innovative power of sámi filmmakers and explored the meeting point between modern XR technology and Sámi storytelling.
In 2024, ÁRRAN will be part of BODØ 2024 – European Capital of Culture and once again we want to facilitate exploration and innovation with an OPEN CALL for new projects within 360-film and digital art.

The projects will be shown as part of BODØ 2024’s program and premiere in February 2024.

Are you intrigued by new technologies and their potential for innovative storytelling? We are looking for project ideas, by filmmakers and creators, who are willing to explore the potential of the 360° format and fearlessly face indigenous storytelling from new angles.

The project is curated by the ISFI and aims to bring together the most exciting creative voices from across Sápmi once again, and we particularly encourage young artists to apply. The new commissions will be screened in the ÁRRAN filmlávvu and become a part of the ÁRRAN program, with possible broad international visibility.

ÁRRÁN 360 embodies the Sámi perspectives on circular time, where past, present and future meet in a continual flow of time and ideas.

In recent years Sámi filmmakers have taken the film world by storm on the back of success stories in different main film festivals around the world. Moving and digital images have demonstrated their unique capacity for narrating Indigenous perspectives on the world and proposing empowering futures. ÁRRAN 360° provides a platform in which to celebrate this extraordinary talent further in the context of Bodø 2024.

The Open Call 2023 for ÁRRAN 360° is now open, and we particularly encourage young Sámi filmmakers and digital artists from across Sápmi to present new ideas for this unique project.

Application deadline for Árran 360 -2023 development: December 15th 2022.
Application is sent via https://isfi.no/services/development/

The selection process will be done by a jury with representatives from ISFI and BODØ 2024.
