Are you interested in being part of a Sámi feature film? Do you want to gain deeper insights and hands-on experience in film production? Apply as a trainee for the Sami feature film Árru!
As a part of an Erasmus+ project, the International Sámi Film Institute, the Sámi Education Institute, and Kalix folkhögskola offer a cross-border traineeship program, allowing young individuals to work as trainees in Sámi film and series productions.
About the “Árru” production:
Árru is a joik musical about Maia, a reindeer herder and single mother who fights against the destruction of their grazing lands.
The film is directed by Elle Sofe Sara and produced by STÆR AS and Elle Sofe Company, with Ragna Midtgard and Elisa Pirir as producers. Filming will take place in Áltá and Skáidi from August 20 to September 23.
Practical Information:
The application is open for everyone, but Sámi and young trainees will be prioritized.
The production is set to Áltá and Skáidi in Norway from August 20 to September 23, 2024. Trainees should also be available before the start of filming for training and pre-production by agreement (starting as early as August 7). The trainee’s salary, travel, and accommodation expenses during the production period will be paid.
The production is seeking a production assistant and assistants in the lighting department and costume and makeup, but it is also open to other potential trainees.

About Erasmus+:
The Erasmus+ project focuses on sharing knowledge, networking, and strengthening the borderless collaboration in film education in the Sámi. The project is a cooperation with the Sámi Education Institute, Kalix Folkhögskola, and the International Sámi Film Institute. The aim is to ensure that film education better meets the needs of the rapidly changing and developing film industry, especially the Sámi film industry.
