OPEN CALL – Workshop with Walt Disney Animation Studios

International Sami Film Institute, in collaboration with Walt Disney Animation Studios, invites Sámi and other Indigenous talents to apply for a unique opportunity to participate in an inspirational workshop led by the esteemed animator Michael Woodside from Walt Disney Animation Studios.

International Sami Film Institute presents an exclusive workshop with Walt Disney Animation Studios in Guovdageaidnu on August 20, 2023. This workshop is for Sámi and other Indigenous talents who want to learn about animation from the world-leading Walt Disney Animation Studios.

Through an inspirational workshop by animator Michael Woodside from Walt Disney Animations Studios, the participants will get insight into a career in animation from a highly professional animation artist from Walt Disney Animation Studios.

Michael Woodside joined Disney Animation in 2012 as an assistant animator, animating crowd characters for “Wreck-It Ralph” and “Frozen” before being promoted to full animator status on “Big Hero 6,” “Zootopia” and “Moana.” On “Frozen 2,” Woodside supervised the Crowds Animation team in addition to the characters of Sven as well as Anna and Elsa’s parents. He then returned as an animation supervisor for Oscar®-winner “Encanto,” where he supervised the character Luisa among others. Most recently, he animated on the 2022 feature “Strange World” and is currently animating on Disney Animation’s 2023 feature, “Wish.”
