OPEN POSITION: Film Consultant

We are seeking a full-time Film Consultant

Would you like to help Sámi filmmakers bring their stories to audiences around the world, and contribute to a strong and sustainable Sámi film industry? The International Sámi Film Institute (ISFI) is seeking a Film Consultant for a full-time, four-year fixed-term position.

The Film Consultant holds a central role at the International Sámi Film Institute, working closely with Sámi filmmakers and contributing film expertise both externally and within our team. The position plays an important part in the development of ISFI and the Sámi film industry.

Main responsibilities

  • Assess and process all film funding applications submitted through our application portal, and make funding decisions together with ISFI’s Director, Head of Administration and Board.
  • Support the development of film projects funded by ISFI through professional guidance and ongoing dialogue with filmmakers.
  • Provide advice to and maintain relationships with Sámi and other Indigenous film production communities.
  • Participate alongside the ISFI team and Sámi filmmakers in national and international film industry events and festivals.
  • Work actively with the ISFI team to strengthen opportunities for Sámi filmmakers within the Sámi and international film industries.

 

Who we are looking for

  • Strong spoken and written proficiency in Northern Sámi, one Nordic language and English.
  • A bachelor’s degree in film or dramaturgy, or substantial professional experience in filmmaking or a related field. Experience in theatre or literature may also be considered.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • The ability to manage administrative casework and meet deadlines.
  • An interest in the film industry and its important role in society.
  • Availability to travel as required, including internationally.

About the position

The position is for a four-year term, with the possibility of an extension.

Salary: By agreement.
Office Location: Guovdageaidnu (Kautokeino). Alternative arrangements may be agreed upon if needed.
Preferred start date: January 2027.
