THE EUROPEAN FILM AWARDS 2024: My Father´s Daughter in the FEATURE FILM SELECTION
The European Film Academy (EFA) has selected Egil Pedersen’s My Father’s Daughter for its list of films eligible for nomination to the prestigious European Film Awards.
We are so proud that Egil Pedersen’s My Fathers Daughter has been recognized by the European Film Academy. This selection highlights the growing visibility and importance of Sámi stories in Europe and on the global stage. We are so happy to have talented and dedicated Sámi filmmakers making beautiful films that resonates to audiences internationally, says Managing Director Anne Lajla Utsi.
There are now 45 Feature Films in the selection that the Academy Board recommends to all Academy members for nomination for the European Film Awards 2024.
In the upcoming weeks, the 5,000 members of the European Film Academy will begin watching and voting on the selected films. The voting results will determine the nominations in several feature film categories, including ‘European Film’, ‘Director’, ‘Actor’, ‘Actress’, ‘Screenwriter’.
The official nominations will be announced on 5 November 2024, and this second voting round, the Academy Members will vote for the winners. The winners will be revealed at the European Film Awards ceremony, taking place in Lucerne, in Switzerland, on 7 December 2024.
With this selection, My Father’s Daughter joins the ranks of other well-known Sámi films recognized by the European Film Awards, including Nils Gaup’s Pathfinder – Ofelaš and Amanda Kernell’s Sámi Blood.
In addition to voting, the selected films will be considered for the Excellence Awards in the categories ‘European Cinematography,’ ‘Editing,’ ‘Production Design,’ ‘Costume Design,’ ‘Make-up & Hair,’ ‘Original Score,’ ‘Sound’ and ‘Visual Effects’ which will be determined by an eight-member jury consisting of representatives of the different arts and crafts. There will be no nominations in these categories.
