FIVE NEW SÁMI FILMS RECIEVE PRODUCTIONGRANTS

ISFI grants 3,7 million NOK to productions

Two short films, one tv-series and two feature films received production grants totaling 3,7 million NOK in the first application round of this year:


ÁRRU

Joikmusical / Production company: Elle Sofe Company AS / Writer: Elle Sofe Sara, Johan Fasting / Director: Elle Sofe Sara/ Granted: 800.000 NOK (Second allocation)

ÁRRU is a Sami joik musical about Maia, a reindeer herder who joins the fight against the destruction of the reindeer grazing area.

Granted in total for production grants to ÁRRU is 1.300.000 NOK. See more information about the first production allocation here.


MOVING MOUNTAINS / MER ENN BARE FJELL (Working title)

The wind turbines stand high above the Fosen Peninsula. The Supreme Court is clear in its judgment, but the government does not follow suit. Young Sámi people find themselves compelled to set aside their everyday lives to fight for their identity and culture.

THE CURSE – A LOVE STORY

The Curse is a love story about healing from traumas, following young reindeer herder Ejva (19) during her first year after her father’s death.

A dark and humorous drama about a dysfunctional family’s attempt to organize the perfect wedding without letting their facade crumble. Spoiler: It goes awry. The facades crumble in full public view.

More about Production grants

The production grant aims to secure the best possible quality of the film project. The grant is given to stimulate films in the Sami language and strengthen Sami filmmakers and producers.

Application deadlines for production grants are February 1st, May 1st, September 1st and December 1st.
